I love working with various kinds of media, however, my favorites are fabrics and beads. I am a designer, instructor and jewelry and fiber artist. I learned to sew at an early age watching my mother and grandmother sew and grabbing their scraps from under the table. I am a self taught jewelry designer. Now I love to play with metalwork and found objects. I love to turn my fabric stash into beads and wearable art and jewelry using found objects, patina metals, charms, buttons, and stuff.
Jewels and Fiber offers trendy styles of wearable art and jewelry made from a selection of mixed media beads, findings, fibers and yarns, paper and polymer clay crafted embellishments. Jewels and Fiber offers up-cycled wearable art, handbags and jewelry made from up-cycled materials. New to the shop are my favorite surface design materials, books, tools, and art supplies to create your own unique pieces. A consignment program is coming soon to buy and sell artists supplies.
September 2018, I opened Jewels and Fiber Art Studio to offer a place to find my handcrafted items as well as teach a variety of mixed media and surface design classes and workshops.
I love to teach. I love to recycle when possible and I collect broken vintage jewelry pieces, keys, screws, bolts, leather, copper metal, tin can, and all sorts of mixed media materials and tools. I offer many of my favorite finds for you to play with and create art. I love to share my talent for teaching and conducting in-store hands-on training. I want to help as many people as possible find ways to be creative.
Visit the calendar for details on special teaching events or closures.
Jewels and Fiber Art Studio is open Tuesday - Friday 11:30 AM- 4:30 PM. During these difficult times the shop is open by appointment but will reopen late summer. In-person classes have returned and may be taught outside under the shade trees.
I enjoy the opportunity to create custom pieces for you. Please contact me to see if my work load allows time for your custom order.
