Surface Design and Mixed Media Study Group with the Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts
Free Workshop SCTA Surface Design
The Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts has several different special interest groups who meet for a specific area of interest. The groups include beading, book arts, needle arts, and Surface Design and Mixed Media. The last one is led by me. We will kick off this year having the meeting at my studio, with the first one on January 26, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 4 pm.
Each meeting we may go over a certain facet of surface design. For the month of January, we will go over decoupage techniques to transform pieces of cloth into beautiful, durable floorcloths. In the workshop, you will complete a colorful and stunning coffee cup coaster.
Decoupage means “the art of decorating an object” and then sealed so that the object can be used.
By being a member of the Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts (SCTA), you get this class for free. All the materials will be supplied. You can bring small scraps of fabric. Make sure they are no larger than a fat quarter.
We will be waterproofing pieces of cloth and fabric to make unusual and unique projects.
I encourage anyone who is a member of SCTA to bring a guest so that they can see how wonderful these classes are. Membership is $35 for the year. We have meetings once a month and usually a workshop or class during those meetings.
And the meetings and workshops will take place at my studio, which is a great way to continue to be inspired. I love teaching these workshops and can offer some great ideas for making your ideal project.
