March Metal Madness To Bring In Spring

March Metal Madness Brings Spring

I am sick of winter and am looking forward to spring. What better way to bring on spring than to get out of the house and play with metal?

These patina colors created will help get you in the right frame of mind to develop excellent colors using hands-on techniques.

We will cut, dap, and patina copper, brass, and other thin metals to create some of the colors you see here.

These turquoise and burnt orange colors come from different thin metals. Adding a new color to your palette from something you made creates enjoyment and happiness. I have found that I can create these new colors by taking one of the thin metals like copper, brass, or sterling silver and allowing a solution over it will make these colors.

But before we create the colors, we want to put the designs on it. That way, the solution will go into the crevices and bring out extra colors and highlights.

When I think of all the snow in the mountains, I get out my metals and start to punch, roll, and tap. I make the designs on those pieces of metal first, enjoying the process. Sometimes it shows the actual design, other times; I make new designs. It can become a way to create without thinking too hard as you create attractive new mindful designs.
