Teenie Bags

Do you know how some things become lost in a big purse? Your lip gloss or lipstick or chap stick always finds itself on the way to the bottom of your purse.

You are in that mad rush to put a little color on and where is it? If you have a Teenie Glorietta Bag, you can find those items really quick!

I love making these bags. They are perfect to put in a pocket. They are stylish and whimsical and can go with any outfit. Personally, I keep two in my larger purse, one for my cards and ID and one for my lip gloss.

I have seen others use them for their business cards. How hip is it to bring one of these out to a convention or conference with your personal or business cards in it? You look good and feel good too. You know you have a pretty bag, one that reused material to upcycle into something beautiful and functional too!

I have Teenie Glorietta Bags at my shop. They are also in my online boutique and they will be at the Art to Wear Show and Sale on November 13th at Shepard Garden Arts Center in Sacramento.

Please remember that Art to Wear Show and Sale is a one-day event. There will be the fashion show first at 10 am, and then the sale is to follow, until 4 pm. The link for the Shepard Garden and Arts Center will take you to the home page to get directions. See you there!

ReUse and UpCycle Clothing Truths, How To Do It

ReUse and UpCycle Clothing

Did you know that Americans throw away over 14 million tons of textiles every year? In 2018 the amount was 17 million tons, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). When I start reading about tons, I convert it to pounds, 2,000 of them at a time! That is 34 Billion pounds of textiles, rags or leather goods, scraps to sample clothing. What if we could reuse or upcycle those items instead?

I have talked and wrote about this before, what upcycling means. In this day and age where creating can be taken to an art form, why buy from a big box store? Instead, you can support a small art business that creates fashion. I design each piece with my creative flair, reusing materials, dyeing cloths and fabrics, and making something beautiful.

I upcycle (reuse discarded objects or materials in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original) leather and tapestry upholstery fabrics, two very heavy materials. These become part of my handbag collections that you can see with the Arden Town Bag, the Santa Clara Up-Cycled leather bag, or the San Francisco Bag with its faux leather trim.

So, the next time you are shopping, may I suggest you come by my shop? Maybe visit me at the Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts on November 13th for the Art to Wear & More Show and Sale. The Fabulous Fashion show starts at 10 am.

You can see a preview of the show, the short version: Preview of 2021 Art to Wear & More Show and Sale

Or the longer version with my Square Biz Tote and other designs: SCTA Fashion show preview and other designs presented.
